Brad Sugars
While Brad’s parents say his showed his entrepreneurial prowess when he was just seven years old, he believes his first business experience was when he was just fifteen. Brad was living in Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia when he got a job as a paper delivery boy. Being a city in southern Australia, Brad remembers the early morning delivery runs in winter meant the job was not particularly enjoyable. So rather than give up the paper run, he employed several of his friends to do it. It was at this time, Brad realized the power of leverage.
“I realized that in order to earn money – you do not necessarily have to do all the work,” says Brad.
“ You can employ people and make a profit along the way.”
Brad says his first real business was when he was still at University studying for a business and accounting degree. Always a quick learner, Brad found that studying for the degree left him with spare time so he started a photocopy shop. At the time, the concept of self service photocopying was unique to Australia and Brad’s shop was one of the first of its kind.
